The University of Birmingham speeds into The Big Bang Fair 2015

The Big Bang Fair is the largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths for young people in the UK. We aim to show students a variety of exciting and rewarding opportunities available for a successful career in STEM subjects.

Come and visit our fun and interactive stand on Wednesday 11 – Saturday 14 March, over in the On the Move zone. Students will discover the world of vehicles and see how trains, planes and industrial machinery are being made cleaner, greener and smarter to make our lives easier and better!

The Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE), leaders in railway science and education, will bring railways to life with an exciting, interactive crash test model activity.

Crash Test Challenge

Design, construct and crash test your own model train! Set it off down an inclined ramp and watch it collide with a solid structure. How well will your design protect the passengers inside? The video clip is available in mp4 format (3.6 MB).

Staff and students will be on-hand to discuss other ways you can get involved with the Universities STEM activities, and to talk about pathways to undergraduate degree programmes.

The Big Bang Fair will be held at the National Exhibition Centre, in Birmingham. For general information about the Big Bang Fair please visit www.thebigbangfair.co.uk. Follow the BCRRE on Twitter for live updates during the fair.
