Elements of a new Molecular Quantum Technology
Chemists have the ability to make molecules with often atomic precision with elements from across the periodic table. This allows for the detailed design of molecular and interfacial electronic structure, to exploit quantum effects for new applications in sensing, biopolymer sequencing and thermoelectric energy generation. A new 'Molecular' Quantum Technology is beginning to emerge and Professor Tim Albrecht will discuss some his work in this direction in his inaugural lecture.
Professor Tim Albrecht joined the University of Birmingham as Chair in Physical Chemistry in 2017. Prior to joining the University, he was Reader in Interfacial and Analytical Sciences at Imperial College. He was appointed the Director of Research and Knowledge Transfer for the School of Chemistry. Professor Albrecht also leads the Albrecht Group, an interdisciplinary team with a wide range of research interests.
Complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be served at the drinks reception following the event. Alcoholic drinks will be only be served to those who are aged 18 or over.
