Direct entry partnerships in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences

Our direct entry partnerships enable students who begin a degree at their home university to join year 2 or 3 of a related programme at Birmingham and achieve a University of Birmingham bachelors degree.

Available programmes

The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) consists of seven academic Schools, all of which provide exceptional teaching and learning and a happy and healthy student experience.

Our EPS Schools are listed below. Direct entry onto programmes within these disciplines is dependent on whether there is a partnership is in place with your current university.

Generally your studies under a direct entry agreement will follow one of the below formats:

  • 2+2: 2 years in your home university + 2 years at the University of Birmingham
  • 3+1: 3 years in your home university + 1 year at the University of Birmingham
  • 3+2: 3 years in your home university + 2 years at the University of Birmingham - This is for students who are studying BEng/MEng programmes.

For students looking for 3+1+1 / 1+1 programmes: Please see the Study Abroad section of our website.

Students who join the University of Birmingham through one of our direct entry agreements, will be awarded a degree in the same way as those who join at Year 1. Once you have completed your studies; you will receive a University of Birmingham bachelors degree certificate and full transcript.  In some cases, your home university may also award their own degree certificate and transcript for students taking a Birmingham direct entry programme.
