Pot Luck Cafe

Pot Luck Cafe offers our postdocs and ECRs opportunities to meet new colleagues, make new contacts, share ideas and research, or simply enliven the working day with a relaxing chat on non-work subjects.

The ECDN Pot Luck Café scheme aims to provide an opportunity for postdocs and early career researchers in EPS and LES to network and interact with other researchers from outside your research group or school, giving you the chance to meet new colleagues and have conversations which enhance our working lives.

How it works

Those taking part in Pot Luck Café will be matched with two other postdocs and early career researchers from outside your research group, school or college.  You will be notified of who you have been matched with and then you will have a three week time-frame within which to arrange a meeting among yourselves.

In some cases, you may be matched with colleagues who you already know or who you have met with before, but we still recommend taking the time to take a break from work, have a relaxing chat and connect with colleagues.

Although face-to-face meetings are preferred, some colleagues may still want to meet online so please respect the preferences of all participants when making arrangements.  We suggest approximately 20-30 minutes for the meeting.

The topic of conversation will be up to the three of you.  You can choose to discuss work or your research, or subjects unrelated to work and research.

Once the three week time-frame has elapsed we will be contacting you again to ask for your feedback on the scheme, which will help us prepare for the next round of the Pot Luck Café.
