Professor Caroline Bradbury-Jones
In this inaugural lecture, Caroline (Carrie) reflects on the personal and professional journey that has led to a point that she believes, is the pinnacle of her career. By its nature, an inaugural is an event that should happen ‘at the beginning of a term of office’. Carrie has been a professor for five years, which renders this lecture somewhat behind schedule.
The title of the lecture captures its intended focus on Carrie’s commitment to research that tackles violence against women and girls, specifically domestic abuse. She will share her contribution to scientific methods, through developing theories, frameworks and models. The intention of these aspects of her work is to expand the knowledge infrastructure as regards how to conduct research in the context of violence and abuse. Carrie will explore her successes and the impact of her work, but also, critically reflect on how we can measure success in such a complex world.
This lecture is intended to have a celebratory feel, with consideration of the path ahead, legacy and the continuation of tackling the scourge of violence against women.
Come along and join us for what promises to be a fascinating lecture. All are welcome. Please note this is an in-person only event.
