The Academic Skills Centre

The Academic Skills Centre (ACS) is part of Library Services and provides academic skills support for undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Birmingham. We work with academics to embed skills in the curriculum.

We are interested in hearing from delegates about new forms of assessments types that are currently being used or implemented in your institutions, as well as any practical examples of using peer review in assessment.

We want to be able to tailor our support to the needs of students so finding out about your plans for the year to come will be really helpful. Please pop by to say hello!

LSP
Come along to find out more about the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method (LSP) and have a go.

LSP is a facilitated thinking, communication and problem solving technique and is used extensively in organisations, teams, education, research and individually. This 100% engagement technique 1) provides trigger questions, 2) asks participants to build a metaphorical model, 3) share the story with the group when 4) individual and collective meaning is made. Come and have a go!

Canvas LMS lets you focus more on teaching (and less on tasks).  Rubrics. Modules. Calendars. Schedules. Quizzes. Syllabi. Analytics. SpeedGrader! (Cue angels singing.) Canvas has so many features to help you build first-class courses. And that's before we get to the integrations. The Canvas API buddies right up with tools like Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Adobe, and hundreds of other technology partners to deliver one centralised learning hub.
