Studies of quantum properties of light-matter interaction need beyond-state-of-the-art vibration isolation systems to observe tiny quantum effects.

Year 4 project students (Joshua Askew and Daniel Harris) developed an active seismic isolation system for our cryostat and have set it up together with sensors and actuators.

We already utilise the system in our experimental work.
