Our Welcome programme has something for everyone - make sure you know what you need to attend for your academic programme and start exploring all the other exciting activities and events you can look forward to.

Your Welcome Timetable

Our online Welcome Timetable lets you build your own programme for Welcome Week and beyond. Start by choosing your programme to see your induction sessions, and then you can use the Add Events button to explore all the exciting things taking place across Welcome, from your College Welcome and the International Welcome Celebration to bike sales and bread-making!

Hall Rep Maddy invites you to paint and decorate plant pots for your flat, as well as grabbing some free pizza!

University Graduate School: Postgraduate Winterbourne Walks

Thursday 13 October, 10:00-11:30, Winterbourne House & Gardens

Join one of these small group socials to meet other postgraduates for a slow paced walk around Winterbourne House and Gardens followed by a coffee or tea on us! The walks are hosted by recent PGs, so you can also ask them about their experiences and top tips in getting settled into PG life at UoB. Book now.

Guild of Students' Clothes Swap

Fancy bagging a whole new item of clothing for free?  Then why not take part in our clothing swap!

In an effort to encourage sustainability, reduce waste and save you money, Izzy your Activities & Employability Officer, has organised a Clothing Swap just for you!  You can donate clothing that you don't wear anymore to the Guild building (before Friday 7 October), and then come along on Thursday 13 October to see what new clothing you can pick up. Hall Reps: Wild Encounters at Oak Brook Park

Thursday 13 October, 18:00-19:00, 19:00-20:00, and 20:00-21:00, Common Room, Oakbrook Park

Join your Hall Rep for a Wild Encounters Animal Show! Meet skunks, snakes, lizards, meerkats, hedgehogs and many more. There will be three separate live, hands-on sessions, so make sure your register for your free ticket. Register now.

Postgraduate exclusive events

Whilst almost every event on the Welcome Timetable is open to all, we know that sometimes you will want to meet other postgraduate students and start to build connections with our postgraduate community.

The University Graduate School provides support and opportunities for postgraduates - you can explore their Welcome activities for postgraduate taught students and postgraduate research students to find out more!

Guild of Students events

The Guild of Students is your students' union, and is there to ensure you get the most out of University life. You can check out their busy Welcome programme, including the Welcome Fair, Freshers' Ball, and the famous Societies Fair, where you can find like-minded students.

Please be cautious of unofficial Facebook groups and group chats on WhatsApp and Snapchat set up for 'University of Birmingham freshers' or accommodation sites. Be careful about who you are giving your information to. Many of these groups are set up by promoters who want to sell tickets to events that are not affiliated to the Guild of Students or the University, and may have members who pretending to be new students. Look out for official events on the Guild and University websites, and join the official accommodation groups for the Vale Village, Selly Oak Village, and Pritchatts Park.
