Moving in

Arrivals Weekend is the main period for moving into University accommodation. Campus and accommodation sites will be busy - make sure you know what to expect, and what you will need to do.

Before you move in

Make sure you have read our essential information about moving in, which includes information about insurance, inventories for your accommodation, car parking permits, and other important details.

Book your move in slot

Due to the numbers of students moving into University accommodation during Arrivals Weekend (Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September 2019), we encourage you to book an arrival timeslot. This will allow us to plan effectively for the day  to provide you with the best arrivals experience possible. You will be contacted about booking your arrival timeslot after your accommodation has been confirmed. It is important that you move in during this chosen timeslot.

Need temporary accommodation?

Have a look at the possible options for temporary accommodation if you require this.

Getting to your accommodation

Make sure you plan your journey and know where you need to be, to avoid any last minute panics. There will be signage to direct you, but knowing which accommodation site you are going to and having clear directions will help. When you reach your accommodation, security staff will be on hand to direct you to your drop off zone.

Unloading your belongings

Once you have parked up, you can start moving in. Our student staff will be on hand to help you move in - feel free to ask them for help!

Please be aware that it will be very busy around accommodation sites throughout the weekend and you will have a limited timeframe to keep a car on site. We ask that you move your car as soon as possible once you have unloaded, and then return to unpack, settle in and put the kettle on!

There will be free parking in the multi-storey North East Car Park. Our Security teams will be on hand to direct you.

After you have moved in

There will be a range of activities taking place on campus and accommodation sites across Arrivals Weekend. Find out more about Arrivals Weekend on campus, including where you can collect your student ID card, and about our Parents' Welcome Addresses. See the Welcome timetable to begin building your personal timetable for Arrivals Weekend and Welcome Week.

There will be a range of musical performances and sport demonstrations, food outlets, and other activities taking place at the centre of campus. You can grab a souvenir snap from our #hellobrum photo booths, take a trip around campus on the land train, and find out more about the services and opportunities available to you as a new student - just head towards Old Joe, our famous clock tower!

Parents' Lounge

Over Arrivals Weekend the first floor of Staff House (R24 on the campus map) will be available for parents to use to take a break and relax or arrange as a meeting place with students after the Parents' Welcome Addresses.

Help and support

Our friendly student staff (pink t-shirts) will be happy to help you unload and move your belongings to your accommodation - feel free to ask them for any help you might need. Each student village has its own reception, who will also be available to help you with any queries about your accommodation.
