Strategic Global Engagement

The University collaborates with partners across the world to produce ground-breaking research, deliver innovative teaching, and to create opportunities for students and staff to gain international experience. We are responsible for supporting the overarching international strategy with a focus on international alliances to enhance our research and reputation.

Although our partnerships are wide-ranging and span all continents, we have identified China, India, Brazil, Europe and North America as key strategic regions in which we wish to develop more focused engagement. This includes diplomatic relations, pump-priming initiatives, research support, and collaborations from across the world. We utilise our regional expertise to realise emerging opportunities.

The University of Birmingham is more committed than ever to its global engagement. We are always looking to collaborate with like-minded institutions that share our approach to inclusive and equitable partnerships. Over a number of years, we have developed a network of partners across education and research that are delivering global impact for our staff, students and society.
