The below video features one of our Canadian students talking about why she chose to study Law at Birmingham.

Student societies

Many nationality groups form student societies during their time at the University of Birmingham. This is an excellent way to keep in contact with home and also provides an opportunity to highlight your culture and customs in the UK.

Student societies are also a useful point of contact for prospective students to Birmingham who may want to contact current students for information.

For a full list of student societies please visit the Birmingham Guild of Students website.

What our students have to say...

Sarah Button - MSc.Urban and Regional Planning, Canada
"I chose the University of Birmingham primarily because of the excellent reputation of CURS and because of the warm reception I received from staff when I first enquired about the programme. Everyone in the department was helpful and kind, ensuring that my queries were answered in record time.

The lecturers are incredibly attentive and are genuinely interested in you and your work. I like the library and the ease of accessing documents from off campus and the extensive availability of journals.

I love the campus as it is green and welcoming, with lots of places to hang out and study, relax, get a bite to eat. There's a great diversity of food on campus too. Since I commute in and spend a long day on campus, having the train station right there is also awesome. Birmingham is a vibrant and diverse City. The campus is well connected by rail to the rest of the country, and with Birmingham less than two hours from London and only about an hour from Bristol and other major cities, it's a great place to be.

I'm really enjoying my studies at Birmingham - I couldn't have picked a better Uni! It has far surpassed my expectations at every turn and I couldn't be more pleased with my programme, the campus, the administration, and my experience here as a whole. I can't say enough good things!"
