The University of Birmingham has made an impressive nine place rise in today’s Times Higher Education–QS World University Rankings.
The annual table, which ranks more than 600 world universities places Birmingham 66th up from 75th in 2008. This places Birmingham 10th in the UK.
The University also recently rose into the top 20 of the Sunday Times league table.
The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor David Eastwood, comments: “This result demonstrates Birmingham’s growing status as a globally outstanding University. We are determined to invest in areas of research excellence, improve campus facilities, and enhance our growing international presence.”
We are continuing to support ambitious projects including the recently completed refurbishment of the Muirhead Tower and the announcement of a 400 seat concert hall that will benefit our students and the wider community.”
At the latest count, 9,000 universities were recognised globally by UNESCO. The THE–QS World University Rankings measure more that 600 institutions based on six key factors: Academic Peer Review , Employer Review, International Faculty Ratio, International Student Ratio, Student Faculty Ratio, and Citations per Faculty.
