Nursery staff at The Oaks have been commended for their passion and contribution to the lives of the children in their charge.

The University of Birmingham’s day nursery, the Oaks, has achieved a rating of ‘outstanding’ following a recent inspection by Ofsted.

Described as providing an exceptionally rich and varied environment, the team at the Selly Oak nursery are delighted.

The inspectors said in their report: “Children are extremely well cared for and happy with the caring staff. Their needs are exceptionally well met and their well-being is given the highest priority. One of the many strengths of the nursery is that children are secure and thoroughly prepared for their individually tailored moves to new rooms and to school.”

Childcare Services Manager Paula Hunt said: “The team at the Oaks work very hard every day to provide an exceptional experience for the children in our care. Their positivity and passion shines through, and we are delighted that the inspectors were able to see that and award them the Outstanding rating.  This is well deserved and the team will enjoy celebrating this acknowledgement in recognition of their magnificent efforts.”

The Oaks Day Nursery has excellent facilities, including dedicated outdoor space, and a forest school, with two qualified forest school leaders. Alongside its sister nursery, The Elms, provision is provided for children across Selly Oak.
