Flexible study

Build on the skills you have or develop a whole new set. Our short courses can help you progress in every stage of your career. Offering flexible, degree-quality education in smaller chunks, they can help towards a University certificate or formal qualification.

Which type of short course should I study?

There are typically 3 different types of short course you can study with us:

  1. Bootcamps: We offer a range of Skills Bootcamps, with some fully funded. You could be looking to progress your career, or switch to a new one. These boot camps will give you the skills, while fitting around your life.
  2. Microcredentials: Usually taken from existing modules within a Masters, they can be used as standalone credentials, or count as academic credits towards a full Masters.
  3. Continuing professional development (CPD): Our non-credit CPD courses will help you stay ahead in a fast-changing world. All delivered in a supportive learning environment.

Supporting your studies

There is a range of support available for our short course students, including experienced academic staff, tutors, support staff and our wellbeing resource, which includes 24-hour online support through UBHeard. Students also have access to our Careers Network teams, which help to prepare them with the skills they need to compete for jobs.

Coming from a life science and health care background, learning to code was a huge challenge for me, but it was totally worth it. I couldn’t be happier in my new role with Gymshark and I have the advice and support of the course leaders during and after the course to thank for that. It’s been brilliant putting what I learnt into practice at my new job.
