Award Description

 The College of Arts and Law is please to be able to offer a number of Distance Learning bursaries for research students, studying either PhD or MA by Research programmes in 2014-15. 

These are one-off awards, although students are invited to apply each year, including those who are existing members of the student body. These awards are available to both home/EU and overseas students studying in all Schools in the College: 

English, Drama, American and Canadian Studies

History and Cultures 

Languages, Cultures, Art History and Music


Philosophy, Theology and Religion

Value of Award

Please note the level of this award is yet to be specified for 2014/15. In 2013/14, Fee Bursaries of £2,000 were awarded. 

Eligibility Criteria

These bursaries are open to students worldwide.

How to Apply

In order to apply, you must first have completed an application to study. In order to do so, please select a course from our Coursefinder listings, and select 'How to Apply under Course Details. 

Once you have done so, please select the relevant application form below, depending on whether you have applied for an MA by Research, or a PhD, and return the completed form to by 4pm on 25th April 2014

Your application must also be supported by two references. It is your responsibility as the applicant to forward the reference form to both nominated referees, and advise them that both references must be returned to by 4pm on 25th April 2014.
