Congratulations to William F. Stewart, has been awarded a PhD for his thesis on a Canadian general of the First World War.  Working  under the supervision of Professor Gary Sheffield, Bill has written a ground-breaking thesis on Lieutenant-General Sir Richard Turner, a figure who was controversial at the time and still divides opinion among historians. Bill, who is based in Ottawa, produced a nuanced and convincing reassessment of Turner that drew high praise from his examiners for the quality of his scholarship
