Research in CREES
The Centre for Russian, European and Eurasian Studies (CREES)
The Centre for Russian, European and Eurasian Studies (CREES) is one of the world’s leading research institutes in its field.
Established in 1963, CREES is a multi-disciplinary centre with a strong orientation towards the social sciences and history. The Centre has been very successful in obtaining external research grants, for example from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Leverhulme Trust and UK government departments.
The wide-ranging research programme of the Centre covers the politics, international relations, political economy, culture, and history of the countries once part of the former Soviet Union and the former socialist states in Eastern Europe. Research topics cover political-economy, history, society and culture as well as security studies.
Members of CREES are actively involved in the policy process, with long-established relations with UK government, international organisations, the business community and the media.
Scholars wishing to spend time at CREES to undertake research are always welcome to discuss research and collaborative work, and to use the resources of the Baykov Collection
