The Commissioners are currently in the process of taking evidence from experts across academia, policy, and practice, in order to examine some of the questions currently facing the distribution of wealth in the UK. The debate is being held midway through the Commission’s work to explore major themes that will be central to its report. This will enable the Commission to test the robustness of emerging conclusions in advance of the report being published. The final report will be launched in October and we expect it to be a major contribution to the debate on future policy.
The debate will focus around the current levels of wealth inequality and whether policy interventions are needed, and which interventions, if any, would be most effective.
- Bishop David Urquhart - Chair of the Commission on the Distribution of Wealth
- Paul Johnson - Director of the IFS
- John Hills - Professor of Social Policy and Director of the Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion (CASE) at the London School of Economics
- Sir Brian Pomeroy - former Chair of the Financial Inclusion Taskforce
The debate will take place at 16.30 - 18.00 in Westminster.
