Experts from around the country converge on Birmingham today for the annual UK RNA polymerase workshop. RNA polymerase is the protein that makes sure that the code embedded in DNA is expressed in cells, and so is at the heart of life. The first workshop was held in Nottingham in 1989 and, since then, it has been held all around the country at different locations. This year's workshop, organised by Dave Grainger and Dave Lee from the Institute of Microbiology and Infection (IMI), will be held in the School of Biosciences on the 20-21 April. It will be the 3rd time that the workshop has been held here.
