The College of Arts and Law has an alumni bursary scheme for all University of Birmingham graduates .
For courses starting from September 2013, anyone who is an alumnus of the University of Birmingham will be entitled to a £750 reduction on full-time postgraduate taught courses in the College of Arts and Law.
What if my degree is from another College?
You can be a graduate of any College in the University of Birmingham and still be eligible for the bursary, as long as you study a postgraduate degree in the College of Arts and Law.
Does it matter when I graduated?
Not at all – so if you studied with us in previous years and are now considering a return to study, you will still be eligible for the bursary. .
Does the bursary apply to part-time courses?
Yes, if you started a part-time postgraduate course from September 2013 onwards. In this case, the bursary will be applied pro-rata (i.e. £375 in your first year of study if studying a course over two years).
If you started a part-time course prior to September 2013, you will not be eligible for the bursary.
What can I study?
The alumni bursary applies to all MA, MSc, MRes and LLM courses across the College, as well as the LLB for Graduates. We offer around 100 Masters courses across a variety of subjects, including Classics, English, Heritage, History, Law, Music, Philosophy, Theology and much more.

Am I eligible for postgraduate study?
We usually ask that you have a good Honours degree, or overseas equivalent. Any specific entry requirements for your course – such as a specific subject specialism – can be found in the ‘entry requirements’ section of the relevant course finder entry.
How much will my postgraduate degree cost?
We charge an annual tuition fee. Standard fees for 2014/15 are as follows:
MA / MSc / LLM - £5,940 full-time; £2,970 part-time
MRes - £3,950 full-time; £1,975 part-time
MA / MSc / LLM - £13,665 full-time
MRes - £12,565 full-time
Some of our courses do charge non-standard fees, but you can find course-specific fees in each course finder entry.
How do I apply for the bursary?
Please apply for your course through the online application system as normal in the first instance. During the application process, you will be required to input details of your qualifications, and if you have a University of Birmingham undergraduate or postgraduate degree - or will have by your course start date - you will be identified as eligible for the bursary.
