The Times league table position follows a second place in the Guardian University Guide 2018. We also appear in the top 100 in the QS World University Rankings.

The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide is created using a variety of criteria including student satisfaction, research quality, graduate prospects, entrance qualifications held by new students, degree results achieved, student/staff ratios, service and facilities spend, and university dropout rates.

Professor Mark Simmons, Head of School of Chemical Engineering, said:
‘This result shows the strength and depth of our activities at Birmingham. We have academic staff who are leading global experts, excellent facilities and strong links with industry to ensure our students receive the very best experience in our academic community’.
