Gemma won the Nature Chemistry prize for “best oral presentation” at the 4th Annual Postgraduate Symposium on Nanotechnology hosted at the University of  Birmingham. Gemma’s fascinating talk “Exploiting anthracene dimerization within peptides: Light induced sequence selective DNA binding” introduced the audience to her in-depth research into new ways of photo-controlling DNA: Protein interactions. Her continued work with Professor JHR Tucker and Dr A Peacock will focus on controlling the binding of more complex DNA:Proteins systems for the use in a wide variety of commercial applications.
