In connection with National Poetry Day 2011, Dr Kate Rumbold hosted, with Dr Abigail Williams (University of Oxford), a one-day forum on ‘The Uses of Poetry’ at the Shakespeare Institute on Saturday 8 October.

The forum brought together experts from psychology, education, creative writing and literacy in a round-table discussion about the past and future roles of poetry in lifelong learning.  Proposals are now taking shape to make this discussion the basis of an ongoing collaboration, and public and academic events, over the next year.
