Paul Thompson and Susan Hunston have been successful in their application to the ESRC for funding for a two year research project on interdisciplinary discourse.
The project title is "Investigating Interdisciplinary Research Discourse: the case of Global Environmental Change" and it will be conducted in collaboration with the international journal publisher, Elsevier.
This project will explore the nature of 'interdisciplinarity' by comparing the discourses of interdisciplinary and discipline-specific journals, using a range of corpus and discourse analysis methods. Elsevier will provide the project team with access to large quantities of journal holdings, including the entire holdings for the main focus of the research, the journal 'Global Environmental Change'.
