Multimodal metaphor in advertising
On Tuesday 28 March, Dr Paula Pérez Sobrino and Professor Jeannette Littlemore presented their work on multimodal metaphor in advertising to a group of local local businesses at the University of Birmingham Business Club.
Hosted every two months, the Club's Breakfast Briefings are themed around business-relevant presentations and networking time.
The topic of the talk was "Examining Language in Business", and explored the ways in which companies can use metaphor to make their advertising campaigns more effective. Dr Paula Pérez Sobrino and Professor Jeannette Littlemore reported the main results of their Marie Curie fellowship Exploring Multimodal Metaphor in Advertising (EMMA 658079) project funded but eh European Commission (www.multimodalmetaphor.com).
