Four research students at the Shakespeare Institute – Giulia Sandelewski, Thea Buckley, Paul Hamilton and Dave Paxton – have received funding from The University of Birmingham Graduate School to start a new academic journal called The Shakespeare Institute Review.

The journal is a reincarnation of the SI’s old Mason Croft Review and is intended to be a serious academic publication for high-quality research papers. Each issue will be themed, and the editors are especially interested in submissions that push the boundaries of the academic form: that are, perhaps, provocatively creative, or intensely personal and confessional. They have decided to signal the re-birth of the journal with the deliciously inappropriate theme of death in Shakespeare. A call for papers will be put out very soon.
