Building bridges with local schools photo

Dr Andrew Quinn, Senior Lecturer in Atmospheric Science and Engineering, was invited to speak to a group of local primary school teachers in September, as part of a wider programme of University-led activities for schools.

Teachers and governors from several Stourport primary schools came together for a joint training session that comprised engineering-based activities, such as making a bridge from paper.  The training day was focused on reasoning and dialogue in the classroom and included inspirational talks from maths and science teachers, with guest speaker Dr Quinn.

The teachers were very impressed with the structure of the session and the skills that they acquired that can be applied to the classroom.

If you’d like to arrange a similar activity for your school, please contact Ms Irina Hoffman, Outreach Officer.
