As part of the BBC Proms Youth Choir, singers from the university will return to the BBC Proms to perform at the penultimate night of the world’s largest music festival at the Royal Albert Hall.

University of Birmingham Voices are one of the foremost ensembles at the university and are led by Professor Simon Halsey, Director of Choral Studies. Invited to return to the massed ensemble for a third time, their fellow singers this year will be the CBSO Youth Chorus, National Youth Choir of Wales, University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir, and the BBC Ten Pieces Choir. Together they will be led by internationally-renowned conductor Marin Alsop and will perform Verdi’s Messa da Requiem alongside the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

The event is taking place on Friday 9 September 2016 at the Royal Albert Hall at 19:30. Further information is available on the BBC Proms website.
