Dr Kokalova Wheldon was shortlisted from a group of over 400 candidates. Her research proposal titled ‘Spinning nuclei to understand element formation’ was well received by the panel and earned her the Highly Commended award.

Tzany said, ‘It was a great honour to be shortlisted among some of the best female scientists in the UK. The £1000 bursary will allow me to continue my research and I’d like to thank the panel for their consideration’.

The L’Oreal UNESCO Fellowships have been designed to provide practical help for the winners to undertake research in their chosen fields.
