Physics and Astronomy at the University of Birmingham has maintained its sixth position in the latest Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017.
Professor Martin Freer, Head of School of Physics and Astronomy, said ‘This is a very good result for the School. It is thanks to all the hard work of our students and staff that we continue to provide a high-class academic environment, delivering excellent research and teaching’.
The Times league table position follows the School achieving first place, in the Russell Group, with a 96% student satisfaction rating in the National Student Survey 2016 and ranked second overall in the Guardian University Guide 2017.
The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide is created using a variety of criteria including student satisfaction, research quality, graduate prospects, entrance qualifications held by new students, degree results achieved, student/staff ratios, service and facilities spend, and university dropout rates.
