The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) have awarded Dr Alex Balani £71K to investigate the interaction between working memory and selective attention. Dr Balani's previous work on visual selective attention has shown how our attention is guided by the content of working memory. Interestingly, this effect is not tied to an exact match between the stimuli. The current study, which is supported by ESRC, will investigate the nature of this guidance by recording the electrical activity of the brain.
