Meryl Lewis, studying for a PhD in Clinical Psychology in the School of Psychology, has won the 2017 University of Birmingham Three Minute Thesis competition. In a presentation entitled Living with a stranger? Meryl talks about her research into the effects of dementia on the sufferer's partner who must become their carer.

As Meryl says in her video below, "Dementia is like a thief who does not care what he steals or who he steals from."

Meryl's video has now been submitted to the UK-wide 3MT semi-final, to be held mid-July 2017.

Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition developed by the University of Queensland in 2008, in which doctoral researchers have just three minutes to deliver an engaging presentation on their thesis topic, its originality and its significance.
