The Department of Philosophy is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Ian Rumfitt.
Professor Rumfitt will take up a Personal Chair in Philosophy at our department starting this autumn. He was a student at Balliol College Oxford and Princeton University and he has previously worked at University of Keele, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, University College, Oxford, and Birkbeck College, London. He specialises in Philosophy of Language and Philosophy of Logic, but he has also published widely in many other areas such as metaphysics and philosophy of mathematics. According to Brian Leiter, Rumfitt's appointment will push our department into the UK top ten.
