New research is being undertaken through the Public Service Academy to detail a whole range of elements that converge to assemble ‘disadvantage-disorder’ in the policy lexicon, public services and the lives of children and young people.
PSA Director, Deborah Youdell, will draw on this research in giving the keynote address at this week’s ‘Discourse, Power, Resistance 15: Creative spaces for collective voices’ conference at Goldsmiths, University of London.
The research brings Deborah’s use of Deleuzian thinking about assemblage to understand how public services are being transformed under austerity government, in particular her work on youth employment initiatives (with Ian McGimspey), together with her use of post-structural theories of the subject alongside new biological sciences to interrogate educational knowledges and practices and develop new education research agendas (with Martin Lindley).
