One year on from the start of our new NHS Leadership programmes - believed by many to represent the largest leadership development investment in the history of the NHS - the first 240 senior leaders have graduated from the Nye Bevan programme with the NHS Leadership Academy Award in Executive Healthcare Leadership.

Gathering in the William Beveridge hall, participants received their awards from NHS England Chief Executive, Simon Stevens, and were addressed by Martine Wright - the inspirational Paralympic athlete injured in the London bombings and now captain of the UK sitting volleyball team. Sharing her experiences of the NHS and of the teamwork needed to succeed as an international sportsperson, Martine thanked participants for the inspiration they provide to others and for the contribution they make every minute of every day to all our lives.

There are currently over 1800 people undertaking the Nye Bevan and Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programmes - and HSMC is proud to be supporting current and future NHS leaders to be the best they can be.
