Birmingham’s School of Social Policy gave the closing keynote address to this year’s NIHR School of Social Care Research annual conference.
Taking place at the Royal College of Surgeons, the conference brings together over 200 researchers, policy makers, managers, commissioners, providers, practitioners, people who use services and carers to review what works in adult social care and explore ways of boosting the impact of research in practice.
Jon Glasby, a senior fellow of SSCR, shared the School’s work around the future of adult social care, reviewing progress to date in terms of prevention, partnership and personalisation and arguing for more assets-based approaches which draw more explicitly on social capital and community resources. This builds on previous work by the Health Services Management around new approaches to adult social care, managing change in adult social care and investing in prevention.
