Dr Nikos Ntoumanis, Reader in Exercise and Sport Psychology at the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, has recently received a grant from the Centre of Learning and Academic Development to develop a series of narrated, step-by-step movies, which illustrate how to perform a range of statistical analyses. This innovative approach to teaching SPSS (a statistics programme) means that students can return to the subject-specific examples throughout their module, but also during their final year projects. The movie files will cover topics such as data management, exploration, and presentation, statistical analysis and interpretation of outputs. Each movie file will be accompanied by a data set and will be available to Sport and Exercise Sciences students via the university's WebCT system; it will also be possible to be downloaded on smart phones and tablets.

Dr Ntoumanis is also the author of the popular statistics textbook, A step-by-step guide to SPSS for sport and exercise studies, so the movies will be based on expert advice!
