Personal Skills Award

Our award-winning Personal Skills Award will help you to stand out from the crowd in an increasingly competitive job market. Almost 300,000 students graduate every year and as a result employers are looking for students who graduate with more than just a degree; they want to explicit evidence that you have made the most out of your time at Birmingham. The PSA helps our students to demonstrate this evidence.

Carl Gilleard, Association of Graduate Recruiters "Twenty-first century graduates need to demonstrate to employers that they can 'hit the ground running'. In addition to working hard to gain a good degree, students should engage in extra-curricular activities and obtain work experience in order to develop skills that will make them better prepared for the world of work"

The PSA offers you a range of modules in skills employers actively seek: such as Project Management or Leadership and Teamwork; and it also recognises your involvement in extra-curricular activities such as work or voluntary experience, sports, student societies and so much more. We also offer the opportunity to engage with our employer supporters directly through the PSA.

The PSA has been awarded the national accolade of ‘Best Graduate Development Preparation in Higher Education Award' by the Association of Graduate Recruiters, an organisation that represents over 800 graduate recruiters. The PSA was celebrated for developing a programme with a rigorous approach to developing students’ integration into the workplace.

Places are limited; students can enrol when they start at the University.
