Meet your lecturers: Professor Ewan Fernie

Professor Ewan Fernie  "I think this is a place, at the present time, where creative freedom is really possible. Birmingham, as a city, is in a particularly creative and confident mood, and as part of our new curriculum, we have contributions from the RSC and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford, but also from the fabulous new library of Birmingham in the city centre."

Ewan is a leading expert in Shakespeare studies, a passionate advocate for literature’s power to enhance, challenge and disturb our lives.

His work draws from the resources of criticism, poetry, philosophy, religion and politics. Redcrosse, his project reimagining St George, has been performed across the UK and by the RSC.
