Schools and colleges

Explore the many ways we work with pupils and school staff in local and national schools and colleges

We run a wide range of programmes, events, resources, and opportunities to encourage participation and engagement with university study.

In the Outreach and Widening Participation team, we work with schools to:

  • support pupils with decision-making
  • raise awareness of the benefits of higher education
  • promote a wide variety of pathways to university
  • increase exposure to university life and study, and knowledge and confidence alongside it
  • support pupils with applying to university and preparing for the start of their degree

We offer a progressive programme of activity across all age groups from primary school to Year 13. Although we predominantly work within the West Midlands, we do offer a national programme for Year 12 state school students called the National Access Summer School.

Working with state schools and colleges outside the West Midlands and independent schools across England and Wales

In the Student Recruitment team, we work with a selection of state schools and colleges outside the West Midlands and independent schools across England and Wales. We can offer presentations to Year 12 students at your school or college either in the daytime or the evening to include parents/carers/guardians. We can also attend a university fair at your school or college or host a campus visit.

Events and engagement opportunities

We run a wide range of events and activities that aim to give students exposure to university study, an insight into some of their favourite subjects, and an opportunity to learn in a new environment while raising aspirations.

Resources for teachers and advisors

We provide a range of resources, advice, and development to teachers and advisors on all aspects of the university admissions process and keeping up with any changes in the sector.
