Chris Addison

Chris Addison graduated from the English department at the University of Birmingham in 1994. He has since been involved with the world famous Edinburgh Fringe festival eleven times, performing stand-up comedy and in 2004 was nominated for the prestigious Perrier award for comedy for his show,'Civilisation'. Chris is best known for his current role as a regular panellist on Mock the Week.

Kitty Hart Moxon OBE

Kitty Hart-Moxon was just twelve years old at the outbreak of the Second World War and fifteen when she and her mother were deported to Auschwitz. Amazingly she managed to survive the daily terror that she faced, and was eventually freed from the Salzwedel camp by American troops in 1945. Since then she has dedicated her life to raising awareness of the Holocaust.

Barbara Gaines OBE

Barbara Gaines is the founder and artistic director of Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Barbara was awarded an OBE in recognition of her contributions strengthening British-American cultural relations. Barbara has been the recipient of many awards including the Public Humanities Award from Illinois Humanities Council, and honorary degrees from Dominican University and Lake Forest College.

Professor Antony Gerald Hopkins

Professor Antony Gerald Hopkins arrived at the University of Birmingham in 1963 as an Assistant Lecturer and undertook his Ph.D in 1964. Antony spent 25 years at the University of Birmingham. Antony's prestigious career is full with honours including the Forkosch Prize in 1995, an American Historical Association Award for the 'best book' on British history or British imperial history published in 1993 or 1994.

Lord Hall of Birkenhead

Anthony William Hall, Baron Hall of Birkenhead, CBE is the Director-General of the BBC. He assumed this position in April 2013 after being Chief Executive of the Royal Opera House between 2001 and 2013. For the last three years he has chaired the board for the Cultural Olympiad, the four-year programme of cultural events that climaxed with the London 2012 festival last year.
