Since our last update BUMS has managed to keep extremely busy, organising School-wide events with NucSoc including pub golf, quiz nights, and more film nights. The highlight of the term was the huge success that is our Materials Ball at the end of February.
Our most successful Ball yet, we gathered over 250 guests in the University’s Great Hall for a night of brilliant food, music, dancing and, of course, lots of fun! With planning already happening for next year’s event, we can expect an even more outstanding occasion yet to come. Make sure you save the date: Saturday 18 February 2017.
In the last week of term we held our AGM with an amazing turnout – an increase of over 3 times as many people compared to last year. It was great to see so many of our members getting more involved in elections and actively seeking out ways to improve their society.
Despite the impending feeling of exams approaching, there is a light at the end of the tunnel: our end of year barbecue! Being held at the start of June, the barbecue will be a great opportunity for everyone in the School of Metallurgy and Materials to get together, enjoy each other’s company as well as the food, and mark the start of summer.
We’re also counting down to the annual EPS Societies’ Awards in June. We are currently Society of the Year and would love to keep our crown! If you are or have been part of BUMS, or have enjoyed reading about our activities this year please nominate us.
