Ammar Waraich

The Fulbright Scholarship is one of the most prestigious and selective scholarship programmes operating world-wide.  Ammar hopes to use his time in the USA to learn about health policy, education policy and global affairs.

Commenting on receiving the Award, Ammar said: "I am thoroughly grateful to the Fulbright Programme for making possible my long held dream of studying at Harvard University in the USA.  It is an endeavour I could never have undertaken without their support.  I hope to learn much about the art and science of policy making, and especially in the realm of health and education policy, so that I may come back to the UK and participate in the policy making that preserves and also enhances the NHS.  I am also excited to be sharing the beauty of the NHS with American colleagues and discussing with them the challenges in health policy they are facing under the current political and economic context.

The Fulbright Commission provides the only bi-lateral, transatlantic scholarship programme, offering Awards for study or research in any field, at any accredited US or UK university.
