Meet the Brazil Team

The Brazil Team at the University of Birmingham exists to offer support for academic engagement and partnership activity across Brazil, promotes new opportunities for collaboration in Brazil, and provides information on funding schemes available to help drive forward our Brazil strategy. 

Andrea Edwards

Andréa Edwards - Director of International Development and Mobility 

Andréa has overall responsibility for leading on engagement in the Americas. As Director International Development and Mobility (IDM) at the University of Birmingham, Andréa has responsibility for leading the University's global engagement in key regions, including Brazil, working alongside appointed PVC/Academic leads, and in partnership with Colleges and professional services divisions.

Andréa also leads the teams responsible for student and staff exchanges, and U21 engagement at the University of Birmingham, where providing students with an opportunity to study overseas at a partner institution as part of their degree programme is recognised as an increasingly important aspect of the personalised student journey.

Having graduated in French and Business Administration, with a postgraduate CIM qualification in marketing, Andréa has over 20 years’ experience of working in Higher Education, initially within UK and international student recruitment, before focussing on partnerships, development and international relations more broadly.

Catherine Lemon 

Catherine Lemon – International Development Manager Americas

Catherine is the operational lead for Brazil and has responsibility for driving forward partnerships and international relations in Brazil. Catherine has a wealth of experience in the field of international HE, and has spent time working abroad in the U.S and Australia.

Flavia Rodrigues

Flavia Rodrigues - Brazil Officer

Flavia is the in country Brazil Officer for the team, and is based in São Paulo. Flavia's knowledge of the political, economic and cultural landscapes in Brazil, combined with her academic standing and knowledge of the UK HE sector enable her to provide intelligence and key contact points to help support our work in Brazil. Flavia also has a detailed understanding of the Universty of Birmingham as in her academic life, she spent time here on campus as part of the Brazil Visiting Fellows Programme.

Richard Brunt

Richard Brunt – International Partnerships Officer

Richard works to support the work of the Brazil team by managing internal funding opportunities, promoting external opportunities to colleagues, and liaising with key partners in Brazil to help facilitate the University's Brazil engagement strategy.
