Staying in halls over the holidays

Term may have come to an end, but life in halls hasn’t. If you’re staying with us over the winter break, we’re here to support you. Your reception team will be on hand 24/7 as always, even on Christmas Day.

Just give them a call on:

We’ll also be bringing some Christmas magic to you with a whole host of activities and events. From Christmas crafts in your halls to festive fitness sessions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy, plus lots of opportunities to meet others staying in halls.

Grab a goodie bag

Much like Santa’s elves, your Hall Reps and Student Mentors will be delivering bags of free Christmas treats to your accommodation to get you in the festive spirit. Simply pop down to your nearest reception from 20 December to get yours.

Visit our Christmas Lounge

Visit our Christmas Lounge at Shackleton – your very own festive hub for the holidays. Here you can meet fellow students, watch Christmas films, enjoy festive music, play board games, and tuck into some seasonal treats. The Christmas Lounge will be open every day from 18 December – 12 January (10am – 3pm).

Enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner

Join us for a three-course Christmas lunch in Shackleton Lounge on 25 December (12 noon – 2pm). For just £9.50, you can tuck into roast turkey or wild mushroom, spinach & chestnut Wellington with all the trimmings, followed by Christmas pudding or chocolate fudge cake. Warm yourself up with spiced butternut squash soup to start.

Have some festive fun

If you’re looking for something fun to do in your halls this Christmas, your Hall Reps and Student Mentors have got you covered. All events are free and open to students from across our villages.

There are lots of other events happening on campus from now until 25 December, including a festive badminton competition and the University’s annual carol concert.

Make new friends

Looking for people to enjoy the festivities with?  Sign up to the Student Mentors’ Match Up, Catch Up initiative before 11 December, to be matched with up to four students also staying in halls over the holidays.

The Match Up, Catch Up event on 18 December (featured above) is open to all students – you don’t need to take part in the initiative to enjoy festive crafts and refreshments.
