Bringing Birmingham to You: A National Care Service?

Wednesday 11 May 19:00 - 20:00 BST

Over a million adults receive social care in England each year, to help them live independently and stay safe and well. Unlike health, social care services are means-tested and more than half of all people aged over 65 will spend up to £20,000 on care costs. A lack of state investment in care, and shortages of staff, have contributed to a system which is in crisis.

Also hear how Birmingham's unique IMPACT centre and the ESRC Centre for Care is playing a major role in these vital decisions.

Join Anna Severwright, co-convenor of Social Care FutureCatherine Needham, Professor of Public Policy and Public Management, Jon Glasby, Professor of Health and Social Care and researcher Patrick Hall from the School of Social Policy for a fascinating discussion around these complex issues. No prior knowledge of the subject is needed.

Book your place now for an online discussion of UK adult social care and the policy that shapes government decisions.
