Why Birmingham Dubai?

When I expressed my intention to pursue further education, a colleague immediately recommended the University of Birmingham Dubai (UoBD), since he studied there previously.

After visiting the campus and having a conversation with the department, including Dr Senika Dewanrain, who became my Consumer Insights module professor several months later, I made the decision to study at UoBD.

Choosing to study in Dubai

I chose to work and study here because of the opportunities for personal and professional growth. What I like best about Dubai is its dynamic and futuristic vibe. It’s both modern and traditional, and the two blend beautifully.

Why I chose to study Marketing

Having just started my Marketing Executive job a year prior, I was eager to deepen my understanding of the field, expand my knowledge, and broaden my view.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that UoBD offers one of the best MSc Marketing courses, and even better, I had the option to study part-time.

My Birmingham Dubai experience

The best thing about studying at UoBD has been the international environment. Interacting with students from various cultural backgrounds as well as receiving lectures from professors, alumni, and scholars from many different fields broadened my perspective and enriched my learning experience.

Birmingham Dubai’s impact

My experience at UoBD has been fantastic. The quality of teaching is exceptional, with professors who are knowledgeable and very supportive. The University also provides excellent resources, including the offline and online library, enhancing the overall learning experience. The support services, including essay guidance and career advice, were incredibly helpful.

A highlight of my time at the University was the cross-disciplinary project organised by Assistant Professor Sarah Percy (MSc Marketing) and Associate Professor Dr Mona Mustafa (Programme Director, MSc Human Resource Management). We were invited to address a real-world marketing challenge presented by a CEO. After weeks of preparation and a compelling group presentation, our team was awarded Best Project. It was a one-of-a-kind experience that not only promoted effective teamwork but also demonstrated the practical application of academic theory to real business problems.

Advice for students

Studying here is an excellent choice. You should expect to receive top-notch lectures that will significantly contribute to your academic and professional growth.

Whether you want to enhance an existing marketing career or begin your journey as a beginner in marketing, embrace the journey, stay focused on your goals, and make the most of the opportunities and development that UoBD has to offer.
