A small pile of plastic waste, including bottles, straws and wrapping.

This webinar will question the value and role of plastics in our society and lives. It will seek to answer questions such as: How are economic, environment and human values balanced? Do the ways we design, value and use plastics influence our lives as well as their fate? What are the perceived social and environmental positives or negatives in relation to plastic usage? What aspects do we want to keep and why?

The event has been organised by the Birmingham Plastics Network at The University of Birmingham. This unique team brings together chemists, environmental scientists, philosophers, linguists, economists, artists, writers, lawyers, and experts in many other fields, to address the global plastics problem.
