Brains

The Cafe Scientifique format is well established by now as a means to provide an entertaining and informative, while informal way of engaging the public with the many of the important, and sometimes controversial, topics of current research. The Cafe society is flourishing in the UK, but up to now it has been aimed at a mature audience. Here, for the first time ever, we will organise an event presented by the students, for the students (but everybody will be welcomed!): a Students’ Cafe Scientifique. On Sun 18th March the topic for discussing and engagement will be The Brain of Artificial Intelligence, as a way to celebrate the centenary of Alan Turing’s birth, and an opportunity for three bright students to propose a series of links from the biological brain, to behaviour, to robotic activity. No previous experience in the field of AI or SciFi is required, only an open mind and a willingness to engage.
