Birmingham Pride brings together each year tens of thousands of members of the LGBTQ+ community, family and friends, allies, and supporters in celebration of LGBTQ+ equality. The University of Birmingham partnered with six local institutions (Aston University, Birmingham City University, Birmingham Newman University, University College Birmingham, University of Law and University of Wolverhampton) to form the sectoral contingent at the Birmingham Pride Parade to demonstrate our joint commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusivity in higher education. After record numbers of over 600 members of the UoB community turned out in 2023, we are calling on all students and staff to take part in one of the UoB parade teams at this year’s Pride parade.

Our parade team participants will have access to The Exchange's indoor rest area and will be provided with a bottled water. Additionally, The Exchange has washroom facilities, as well as  gender neutral toilet, baby changing room, changing room facilities for members who wish to change their outfits, and quiet space for neurodivergent participants and colleagues. Participants are requested to arrive at The Exchange between 10:30am to 11:15am on the day. The University will also have a stall at the Smithfield Live Party space on Saturday, up to 5pm.
